Rad Reading – March

I read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K Rowling  for my March rad reading. As Harry prepares to go back to the Hogwarts, a small house elf comes to visit him and warns him of a great danger and tries to stop him from going. But Harry being Harry goes anyway with help from his best friend Ron Weasley and his older brothers, Fred and George Weasley. As Harry starts another year at Hogwarts, Harry notices some strange things happening all around him. As Harry continues his year at Hogwarts, lives are risked, secrets are revealed, and power is born. This book has so much secrets hidden in the book which makes the book a must read. My favorite character is definitely Tom Riddle because he secretly controls the stages of the book perfectly (except at the end where he incinerates) like a puppet master. My favorite quote from him is when he says, “Voldemort is my past, present, and future” and “I fashioned myself a new name, a name I knew wizards everywhere would one day fear to speak.” This shows how he’s been planning everything, even his future which is why he made the diary. My favorite quote though, is from Dumbledore, “It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” This means that it isn’t our personalities, looks, or even skills that define us,  it is our choices in life.

Tonight I Will Invite Three Special Guests

It’s dinner time and I’m going to invite three people to my dinner table. First, I will invite Gordon Ramsay so he can cook delicous food for me and the other guests and so I don’t need to cook. Next comes Harry Potter who will conjure up the best ingredients for Gordon Ramsay so the food will taste even better, and so I won’t need to buy any ingredients. Finally, I invite a genie to my house to grant me three wishes with my first being able to control others with my mind. With the food ready and the guests at the table, I quickly use my power to control others to take Harry’s wand, steal Gordon’s phone, and use the second and third wish from the genie to paralyze them and spawn a serial killer to listen to my very command. After doing so I chuck the three paralyzed guests and the serial killer into the basement and peacefully enjoy my scrumptiously delectable dinner as I can hear the faint screams from the three paralyzed guests in the basement.

The Best Job In The World!

If I could have any job in the world I would want to be a kid. The work experience includes a living space with your own room, running water, electricity, and a nice warm bed. By doing house chores, you can get from five to twenty bucks a day. Being a kid also includes breakfast, Lunch, and dinner, and the occasional snack. The Weekly schedule is on weekdays, wake up, eat breakfast, go to school, eat lunch, go home, do homework, watch tv, play video games, dinner, read, and sleep. On weekends it the day starts by sleeping in, eat breakfast, watch tv, lunch, video games, hang out with friends, dinner, dessert, watch tv, read, and then sleep. The best part about being a kid is definitely having a female adult who cooks delicious food for you and a male adult who gives emotional support and takes you out for ice cream. The hardest part though is probably the housework which includes laundry, dishes, vacuuming, eating the mysterious Korean dinner every now and then that has that extra squirt of spicy sauce, and remembering to make the bed.

I’m Invisible for Twenty-Four Hours!

A scientist has created a machine that has caused my body to reflect light for twenty-four hours, also known as invisibility! The first thing I would do would be going to In-n-out and steal all the burgers and fries. After I would go home, sit on the couch, and eat all the burgers and fries while playing Fortnite and watching tv for about three hours. Then I would start driving to my cousins house and play pranks on them, like eating there food before they eat it off the plate, turning the tv off when they turn it on, and making strange unpleasant noises on my phone and follow them around the house for a few hours. Finally, after a long day of eating, pranking, and playing Fortnite, I stay up all night going to Area 51, taking photos of aliens and exposing what there doing to the public, and then finally going back to my house and go to bed. The next day though, World War III starts, aliens vs humans and government agents all over the earth fighting off hoards of aliens trying to eat there young. While the first day of World War III starts, I’m going to be in a bunker eating fast food, watching tv, and being invisible because the machine that turned me invisible is up and running again. The next three years since World War III started, I’m going to be helping the aliens take over by sneaking into the human rebellion and stealing plans so eventually the aliens and I will rule the galaxy as I am now the right hand man of the king of aliens, and it all started with a machine that turned me invisible.

Rad Reading – February

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone/Philosopher’s
Stone by J.K Rowling, the author 6 other fabulous Harry Potter books, is the book I read for my February rad reading. Harry Potter a boy at the age of 11, lives with his aunt, uncle and his cousin Dudley, the most ordinary people in the world. But as Harry lives in harsh times, he gets a letter to Hogwarts, school of witchcraft and wizardry. As Harry’s magical adventure unfolds, he meets friends, teachers, and enemies at his school. As he journeys deeper into the magical community, a sinister scheme from Harry’s past is unfolding. I love this book because it shows the start of Harry’s years at Hogwarts and as Harry and his friends get into mischief, they always end up saving Hogwarts. This is the first Harry Potter book that will get you hooked to read the next 6. The book has suspense, imagination, and ongoing surprises throughout the story. My favorite character is Harry himself as he is mischievous and smart. My favorite quote from Harry is, “They don’t know we’re not allowed to use magic at home. I’m going to have a lot of fun with Dudley this summer.” Which shows Harry’s mischievous side first hand. My favorite quote though is from Dumbledore who says, “Fear of a name increases fear of the thing itself.” That means if people are afraid of a name, that just makes them scarier and more frightening.

On An Abandoned Island

I live on an abandoned island. Life here is very interesting, for everywhere I look, there are trees EVERYWHERE. The island is like a large hill made of sand, with a small pool of freshwater i the center. The inhabitants/sharks of the island always try to eat me when I wander the sandy beach, but every now and then I see a stray and manage to catch it for dinner. The many trees have a variety of fruit growing on them, such as, mangos, coconuts, pineapples, apples, and sometimes cherries. As I venture into the sandy forest, I must go through mosquitoes that somehow learned that if they fly in groups, they can sting me better, so I always bring some bait to lure them off me. After walking for a few minutes, I get to the small freshwater pool where I can drink clean water and right next to the pool is the only patch of grass, so I built my small fort there. Everyday I go to the beach, try to catch some fish and pick some fruit for breakfast, lunch and dinner and then head home for breakfast. Then I take a nap, wake up, eat lunch, take a swim to the only other living island a few yards from me, talk to Jefferey, the human living there, and trade recourses, play games, and work on the boat that we’ve been working on to get back to the main land. Then go home, eat dinner, sleep, and then repeat.

A Lion In The Zoo

Once upon a time, there was a lion in the zoo. Anyone who looked at him saw him as just a lion sitting in the sun on a large rock, but after they took a closer look, they could see that the lion had a big box tied to its mane. Everyone who came to the zoo looked down at him from his large enclosure, and always said, “Hey! What’s in that box tied to his fur?” The Zookeeper always gave the same answer, “No one knows. It just one day appeared tied to his fur. Some have tried taking it off, but the lion chased them off.” But one day when the zoo was closed due to heavy rainfall, the lion got knocked off his perch from a sudden bolt of lightning, and landed hard on the ground. The next morning when the rain cleared up, the visitors noticed the lion was nowhere to be seen. They asked the Zookeeper, but he said he didn’t know either. Then panic started to arise in the city. Could the lion have escaped during the storm somehow? But there was no sign of any lion anywhere, it was almost as if he vanished.  The zoo closed a year later. 50 years later, in the middle of the abandoned zoo, a child crawled into the zoo, and started wondering around. He had heard a strange rumor that there was small house in the zoo containing a small box with treasures unknown. After exploring for a few hours, he decided to give up, but once he started for the gate, he tripped over something and fell into a large enclosure. He was trapped as the towering walls were above him. Perplexed, he started looking for a way out, when he was shoved. He fell into another hole. Again he was started to get annoyed as he was already looking for a way out of the enclosure above. He started his way back when he saw a small house. The top half was covered in a tarp as if it was supposed to be fumigated, but it was colored pitch black. He started toward the subterranean house, and opened the door.  As he walked in, the door shut and heard the black tarp fall off the house as it suddenly started to shake and spin. It was as if it were being sucked into a black hole, a sickening feeling as he bounced off the walls and floor, it stopped suddenly, just as it started. As he fell back onto the cold stone floor, right in front of him was a box. As he inspected the box, he noticed a small bundle of fur tied to the box tightly. As he picked the box up he noticed a key right next to the fur.  From curiosity, the child opened the box. The child and the box, was never seen again.

Rad Reading – January

This month, I read Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K Rowling. It’s the third Harry Potter book and personally, probably my favorite. It’s Harry’s third year at Hogwarts and he can’t wait to see his friends again, but when a letter about hogsmeade comes, Harry begs his uncle for a signature unless he behaves when his aunt Marge comes. Well of course something goes wrong, Harry blows up his aunt, runs away, and hops on a magical bus to the leaky cauldron. There he meets Ron and Hermione, and they head to Hogwarts but there’s an escaped prisoner in the news. Harry, Ron, and Hermione try to uncover the mystery of the escaped prisoner, and with the help of their new defense against the dark arts teacher, Lupin, they yet again save Hogwarts. Although there may be a traitor along with them.

I love this book because of the amount of suspense at the beginning, and how they reveal it all at the end because it really surprised me what happened with Harry and Sirius at the end.

My favorite character in the book is Sirius because he’s very loyal as to being Harry’s dad’s best friend, and provides Harry help during the story. As Pettigrew pleads for forgiveness, Sirius says, “I would have died! I would have died rather than betray my friends, as we would have done for you!” To show his and Lupin’s loyalty as friends.

My favorite quote though is, “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” which means even when things seem hopeless, there is always a light that shines bright in these dark times.

Dumbledore’s Quote

In the book Harry Potter, Dumbledore once said, “We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy.” If I had the choice to study for a math test or not study,  I would probably pick not study and choose the easy way out, but that decision affected my grade last semester and I ended up with a C in math. This quote shows that our choices lead to an infinite amount of possibilities in life, but whatever you choose is on you and you alone.

My Hero

I really admire my dad. I chose to write about him because he works so hard to get my family what he needs. He has to provide and pay for 7 people, 2 dogs, electricity, water, and pay off many loans. Another reason why is because when he was in school, he was really productive with the school by doing clubs, sports, and leadership which he keeps talking about every single day, but in reality it’s a great achievement to do those types of things. Every now and then he keeps telling me and my brother to do some sport in high school and think about our future careers all because he wants us to be successful in life. Finally, about every few months, he takes my brother and I out to the movies or to dinner which we all end up having a lot of fun and these moments are ones I like to remember my dad by and that’s why I chose to write about my dad.
